It was a no brainer jumping into the new Star Wars Uncut: The Empire Strikes Back project after the fun we had putting a couple of scenes the first time around. Now it’s all guns blazing with a scene I have no clue how to pull off convincingly, relatively speaking. 😛
It was one thing to animate a dozen LEGO minifigures individually for 15 seconds, have Vader bring down Obi Wan with some kick ass lightsaber action, and figure out a way to make Ben’s cape fall down while not looking like expired cheddar cheese. This time we’ve got a massive AT-AT in action while snowspeeders fly around hooking it down across a very loooonnnngggg set of 381 individual images, all in stop motion LEGO glory once again.
After one week of guerilla learning compositing stuff and shooting one of the 14 shots that make up scene 108, here’s a random behind the scenes production snap.
